Philadelphia is the 5th most populous city in the United States and the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania — in area and population. With 6.2 million people, the Philadelphia metropolitan area is the 4th largest in the U.S. As one of the oldest cities in the U.S. and with all of its rich history, Philadelphia attracts millions of tourists each year.

Philadelphia is also one of the largest college/university towns in the U.S., with over 120,000 students studying within the city limits alone and nearly 300,000 total college and university students in the metropolitan area. Philadelphia's economy is heavily based on manufacturing, refining, food, and financial services.

With its own stock exchange, Philadelphia is home to many major Fortune 500 companies, including Comcast, CIGNA, Lincoln Financial Group, Sunoco, Aramark, Crown Holdings Incorporated, Rohm and Haas Company, GlaxoSmithKline, Boeing Helicopters Division, and Pep Boys.
